The Early Head Start Home-Based Model

The Office of Head Start announces the launch of the Early Head Start (EHS) Home-Based Model. The EHS Home-Based Model is one of eight evidence-based home visiting models selected for the Affordable Care Act Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) Program. It includes an overview of the EHS Home-Based Model, the “Head Start Beginning at Home” video, and resources for implementing this model for the state home visiting program.

El 15 de abril de 2011, el Presidente Obama firmó la Ley Pública 112-10: La Ley del Departamento de Defensa y de Asignaciones Continuas del Año Completo de 2011. En ella, se asignan $7.6 mil millones para los programas, conforme a la Ley de Head Start, para el año fiscal (AF) 2011. Estos fondos permitirán que los programas continúen atendiendo a alrededor de 965,000 niños y familias.

El formulario del informe financiero federal SF-425 reemplaza el de SF-269 ACF-PI-HS-11-01

La Oficina de Gerencia y Presupuesto ha suspendido el uso del formulario SF-269 y el Departamento de Salud y Servicios Humanos se propone modificar las partes 74 y 92 del Título 45 del Código de Reglamentos Federales de modo que reflejen este cambio. De conformidad con este cambio, a partir de los periodos presupuestarios que terminen entre el primero de enero y el 31 de marzo de 2011, y en todos los periodos presupuestarios posteriores, la Administración para Niños y Familias (ACF) del Departamento de Salud y Servicios Humanos ha suspendido el uso del formulario SF-269 para la presentación de informes financieros ante HHS/ACF.

The Head Start Cultural and Linguistic Responsiveness Resource Catalogue Volume Two: Native and Heritage Language Preservation, Revitalization, and Maintenance (First Edition) focuses on Native and Heritage language preservation, revitalization, and maintenance for American Indian, Alaska Native, Pacific Island, and other communities. The catalogue lists books, articles, videos, curricula, websites, and other resources useful to families, staff, and HS partners. Upcoming Catalogue volumes: Dual Language Learning – Fall 2011; and Native and Heritage Language Preservation, Revitalization and Maintenance 2nd Edition – Fall 2011.

Head Start’s Father’s Day Communication in Support of Responsible Fatherhood ACF-IM-HS-11-01

Office of Child Care and the Office of Head Start Collaboration Webcast

School Readiness Agenda

Director Yvette Sanchez Fuentes and several staff from the Office of Head Start discuss the School Readiness Agenda and the role of T/TA in this half-hour webcast. Learn how OHS is prepared to support local programs and to use the systems in place to provide critical resources. Fatherhood Resources

The Fatherhood and Mentoring Initiative is a nationwide effort to support responsible fatherhood and to help reengage absentee fathers in the lives of their children. The Fatherhood Resources pamphlet was created in support of this initiative and for professionals who are dedicated to providing resources to support fathers. The pamphlet includes curricula, posters, resource guides, and a link to the National Responsible Fatherhood Clearinghouse website.
